Sportsparts is located in a small shopping centre in the leafy northern Sydney suburb of Normanhurst approximately 20km from the centre of the city.
The company has accounts with various freight organisations to carry parts to anywhere in the world but by preference uses the postal system where this is more convenient and cost effective.
Sportsparts is able to supply a number of parts either not available elsewhere or of a quality over which we have control.
We own the tooling for a number of these parts so they are either made in house or subcontracted to an appropriate organisation.
- Many T type gaskets

- “Original” floor mats for MGB MK1
- TC & early TD oil filters

Sportsparts was started almost by accident in 1966 by Phil Redhead from his home not far from where Sportsparts is currently located at Normanhurst.
Phil from his earliest days has been an MG enthusiast.
Needing parts for his TC, and these not being readily available, he purchased a written-off car to be able to obtain the required parts.
Friends hearing of this, requested he sell them parts from this car. Hence Sportsparts was born.
Some time later Phil and his wife Marta decided to go into the MG parts business fulltime.
This was in Loyalty Road in North Rocks.
Then, to be closer to home, a property in Pennant Hills Road Thornleigh was purchased.
The business remained there until road widening necessitated demolition of the shop in 1987.
The business was thus moved to Myrtle Street.
Phil sold the business in 1989. Since then it has been managed by Bruce and Yvonne Smith. A further move to the present larger premises was made in 1999.
